Ingredients
2 cups cooked rice (white or brown, fresh or leftover)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella, gouda)
½ cup milk (or cream for richer texture)
1 tbsp butter
½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Fresh herbs, chopped (optional; parsley or green onion for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Rice
Use fresh or leftover rice. For fresh: rinse grains, cook with a 1:2 (white) or 1:2.5 (brown) water ratio, and simmer until tender.
Step 2: Make the Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter.
Add milk and stir.
Gradually stir in cheese until smooth and melted.
(Optional) Add garlic powder for extra flavor.
Step 3: Combine & Season
Add rice to the cheese sauce.
Stir until evenly coated and creamy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4: Garnish & Serve
Transfer to a bowl. Garnish with herbs or paprika if desired. Serve warm.
